LPS charge three in “High Risk” home search

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Following a south-side hom search that began Thursday (Sept 24) afternoon, Lethbridge Police charge three of the five people taken into custody. Officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 800 Block of 16 Street South, that has been under investigation for several months related to drug trafficking.

During their search, officers located unknown items that required them to call in the LPS Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU), which confirmed the items were improvised explosive devices (IED).

During the house search, neighbours were required to evacuate or shelter in place while the IEDs were rendered safe and the residence was further searched.

Stolen property, drugs and cash were seized and several people have been charged.

Shaun Ryan Hlavach of Lethbridge, faces 32 charges including: three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, 12 counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, two counts of knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, seven counts of possession of an explosive substance, two counts of possession of stolen property and three counts of possession of identity documents.

Hlavach’s bail hearing was held and adjourned for September 28, 2020.

Allyson Lauren Deal of Lethbridge, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

Deal’s next court appearance is set for November 6, 2020.

Jocko Slade Trotter of Lethbridge, was charged with failing to comply with a release order.

Trotter’s next court appearance is set for November 24, 2020.
