Three new Covid-19 deaths in Alberta, but overall numbers remain stable

EDMONTON, AB. — Alberta Health Services has released the Friday (Oct 2), report on COVID-19, detailing numbers over the past 24 hours.

122 cases were confirmed across the province, with the major of the cases are in Edmonton and Calgary, bringing the total to 18,357. Of those, 1,558 cases are active while 16,527 people have recovered.

The South Zone active cases fell to 31.

Three additional deaths have been reported in the province, all of them in Calgary, taking the number to 272 Albertans.

64 patients are currently hospitalized and 15 have been admitted to intensive care units.

More than 13,000 tests were done on Thursday, taking the total 1,378,898 tests completed among 1,038,472 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 8,973 cases, 568 active
    • 128 deaths (3 news)
    • 30 in hospital, six in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 5,389 cases, 835 active
    • 77 deaths
    • 22 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • South zone – 1,830 cases (2 new), 31 active
    • 25 deaths
    • Five in hospital, two in ICU
  • North zone – 1,454 cases, 102 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Seven in hospital, none in ICU
  • Central zone – 673 cases (one new), 19 active
    • Seven deaths
    • None in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,132 cases, four active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 175 (two new) cases, five active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 74 (one new) cases, four active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 60 cases, one active
    • North Lethbridge – 41 cases (one new), one active, one death
  • Cardston County – 105 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 82 cases, one active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 63 cases, one active, one death
  • Lethbridge County – 48 cases, two active
  • M.D. of Taber – 44 cases, four active
  • County of Forty Mile – 40 cases, nine active
  • Cypress County – 33 cases, two active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 32 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, one active, one death
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
