AHS launching navigation service for Indigenous Peoples
LETHBRIDGE, AB– Indigenous Peoples in the South Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS) are able to receive one-on-one help to access the health services they may need.
This announcement is part of the launch of a new Indigenous Patient Navigation service.
The service will aim to improve patient outcomes for Indigenous Peoples and address health inequalities between Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations.
Some research done shows life expectancy for First Nations in Alberta is 10 years shorter than non-First Nations — AHS would like to change that.
