14 new COVID cases in Lethbridge, 20 throughout South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB — Alberta Health Services has released Thursday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

244 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 21,443. Of those, 2,738 cases are active while 18,417 people have recovered.

This includes 20 new infections in the South Health Zone with 14 in Lethbridge, four in Brooks, and two in Lethbridge County.

The city now has 126 active cases, while in the South Zone, active infections continued to rise to 191.

The region has now seen more than 2,000 people test positive throughout the course of the pandemic.

One person in the Edmonton Zone died as a result of the virus, meaning it has now claimed the lives of 288 Albertans.

Provincially, 101 patients are currently hospitalized and 16 have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,583,918 tests have been completed among 1,159,463 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 9,830 cases, 788 active
    • 132 deaths
    • 40 in hospital, eight in ICU
  • Edmonton zone – 7,128 cases, 1,497 active
    • 88 deaths (one new)
    • 49 in hospital, six in ICU
  • South zone – 2,038 cases, 191 active
    • 26 deaths
    • Four in hospital
  • North zone – 1,594 cases, 130 active
    • 35 deaths
    • Five in hospital, two in ICU
  • Central zone – 799 cases, 116 active
    • Seven deaths
    • Three in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

  • Brooks – 1,138 cases (four new), seven active, nine deaths
  • Lethbridge – 310 cases (14 new), 126 active, two deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 117 cases (three new), 38 active, one death
    • South Lethbridge – 106 cases (three new), 43 active
    • North Lethbridge – 87 cases (eight new), 45 active, one death
  • Cardston County – 106 cases, three active, five deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 103 cases (two new), 43 active
  • Medicine Hat – 85 cases, three active, two deaths
  • County of Warner – 65 cases, three active, one death
  • M.D. of Taber – 44 cases, zero active
  • County of Forty Mile – 42 cases, three active
  • County of Newell – 35 cases, two active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 33 cases, zero active
  • Fort Macleod – 33 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 27 cases, zero active, two deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – Two cases, zero active
