Lethbridge Hurricanes acquire Zach Ashton from T-Birds

LETHBRIDGE, AB– The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced the acquisition of Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Zach Ashton Friday (Oct 23).

19-year-old Ashton was acquired in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2021 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Ashton played in 41 games in 2019-2020 with the Thunderbirds totaling seven assists along with a minus-9 rating and 27 penalty minutes.

Before his time with the Thunderbirds, Ashton played with the Saskatoon Blades collecting 10 points (1g-9a) and 35 penalty minutes.

Ashton will follow in his big brother’s footsteps Jacob Ashton by joining the Hurricanes who was drafted in the 2013 Bantam Draft.
