Fatal two vehicle collision near Raymond

RAYMOND, AB. – Highway 52 west of Raymond was closed for about five hours Friday (Oct 23) night, as RCMP investigated a two-vehicle collision.

Just before 6:00 p.m., Raymond RCMP, Raymond Fire Department and ground ambulances were called to a location about one kilometre west of Raymond.

An eastbound car lost control and collided with a westbound van. The 60-year old male driver of the car was ejected and found deceased at the scene.

The 67-year old male driver of the van, a 35-year old woman, a 31-year old woman, and a 6-year old boy, were all transported to a Lethbridge area hospital where they were treated and released. A 9-year old girl sustained serious injuries and was transported via ground ambulance to a Calgary area hospital. The child remains in stable but serious condition.

An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the collision scene, as a Ridge Regional Peace Officer, Cardston RCMP and a local Cardston peace officer assisted with traffic control until approximately 11:00 p.m.

RCMP have been in contact with all the next of kin. No names are being released
