Another school has been added to the list of those with a case of COVID-19.

The Lethbridge School Division (LSD) has confirmed one positive infection at Gilbert Paterson Middle School. It was not disclosed if the patient is a staff member or student.

Close contacts are being notified and instructed to quarantine for at least 14 days. AHS Public Health has also provided recommendations to the school about cleaning measures and other control measures to reduce the risk of further transmission.

“If you are not contacted, then your child is not a close contact and can attend school as usual following all public health guidance,” the division said in a release.

“Our thoughts remain with this individual that has tested positive, and their family. We wish them a safe and speedy recovery.”

The school schedule will proceed as normal today, Oct. 29.

The division said custodial staff has been directed to conduct enhanced cleaning. The additional cleaning will focus on areas where the infected individual was present, along with high-touch areas and surfaces throughout the school.
