515 COVID cases confirmed in Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Wednesday’s report on COVID-19, detailing the numbers over the past 24 hours.

515 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 30,447. Of those, 6,230 cases are active and 23,874 people have recovered.

The new positive tests include 30 in the South Zone with Lethbridge (18) and Lethbridge County (six) having the most locally.

The province confirmed six deaths in Alberta with three in the Calgary Zone, two in the Edmonton Zone, and one in the South Zone. To date, 343 Albertans have died as a result of the virus.

The death in the South Zone was for a person from Brooks.

Provincially, 164 patients are currently hospitalized and 30 have been admitted to intensive care units.

1,842,754 tests have been completed among 1,295,058 different people.

The regional breakdown for COVID-19 in Alberta is as follows:

• Calgary zone – 13,411 cases, 2,610 active
  • 151 deaths (three new)
  • 50 in hospital, eight in ICU
• Edmonton zone – 11,110 cases, 2,642 active
  • 119 deaths (two new)
  • 98 in hospital, 16 in ICU
• South zone – 2,538 cases, 333 active
  • 31 deaths (one new)
  • Seven in hospital, four in ICU
• North zone – 2,191 cases, 400 active
  • 34 deaths
  • Six in hospital, two in ICU
• Central zone – 1,123 cases, 224 active
  • Eight deaths
  • Three in hospital

The breakdown for the South Health Zone by community is as follows:

• Brooks – 1,198 cases, 46 active, 10 deaths (one new)
• Lethbridge – 587 cases (18 new), 164 active, five deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 234 cases (12 new), 78 active, one death
  • South Lethbridge – 192 cases (five new), 53 active, three deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 161 cases (one new), 33 active, one death
• Lethbridge County – 164 cases (six new), 44 active, one death
• Cardston County – 113 cases, seven active, five deaths
• Medicine Hat – 104 cases (one new), 15 active, two deaths
• County of Warner – 74 cases (one new), six active, one death
• M.D. of Taber – 61 cases (three new), 12 active
• County of Forty Mile – 55 cases, 12 active
• County of Newell – 54 cases, 14 active, two deaths
• Cypress County – 46 cases (one new), nine active
• Fort Macleod – 35 cases (one new), two active, three deaths
