Alberta sets another record with 919 new COVID-19 cases

EDMONTON, AB. — COVID numbers shared Saturday afternoon by Alberta Health show there were at least 919 new infections confirmed in the last 24 hours.

That’s a new daily record for Alberta, with the previous high being 802, set on Nov. 5.

The province also confirmed five new deaths bringing the death toll to 357.

Current data also shows 171 people are in hospital with 33 of those in ICU.

In the South Zone, there are 398 active cases and 2,216 recoveries.

The City of Lethbridge has 164 active cases, 418 recoveries and 5 deaths total from the virus.

In Medicine Hat, there are 15 active cases of COVID-19 and 87 recoveries.

Cypress County has nine active cases and 37 recoveries.

The County of Forty Mile has 12 active cases and 43 recoveries.

The City of Brooks has 46 active cases, 1142 recoveries and 10 deaths associated with COVID-19.

Nearby Newell County has 14 active cases, 38 recoveries and two deaths.

Another update is expected on Sunday, with more detailed data projected for Monday.
