Two groups seeking Winter clothing donations for children

Nov 15, 2020 | 7:00 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB– Amazing Grace Community Church, and the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen are looking for Winter clothing donations to help kids in need.

The initiative is to give any child in need of winter clothing such items as boots, hats, gloves, jackets, and pants to help them whether the Lethbridge storms.

In partnership, the Amazing Grace Community Church will be the drop-off point for the donations up until December 1st.

Each week, from Monday to Thursday, 9:30 am-11:30 am, and on Wednesday from 7 pm- 8:30 pm, donations will be accepted while following AHS COVID-19 guidelines.

The drop-off location is 324 – 13 Street North. If the times don’t work, feel free to reach out to the Church or the Soup Kitchen.

Mallory Kristjanson with Connecting Our Community Lethbridge has helped spark the initiative and hopes to see many children’s lives change.

“One of the most heart-wrenching things is seeing a child without proper winter gear, whether they’re walking to school and trying to get through the snowdrifts.”

“So I remember on my way to work I saw a little girl, she was wearing just a small sweater with runners and we had just had that massive snowstorm, and I wish I just had the donations in my car to just pull over.”

Kristjanson also says if anyone would like to donate adult clothing for the homeless population, that is greatly appreciated.

Anyone that can and wants to lend a hand by giving some spare winter clothing can go to the Amazing Grace Community Church Staring Monday.
