Charges laid in vehicle-pedestrian collision

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — A 33-year-old city man has been charged in connection with Tuesday’s (Jan 5) hit-and-run in the downtown area.
The collision happened around 1:00-pm at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street South. A woman in the crosswalk was hit by a vehicle, which left the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. (Police do not have an update on the woman’s condition).
The driver (not identified by police) has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act with: making a false statement; failing to provide required accident information; and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
