FORT MACLEOD, AB – Fire crews were very busy Tuesday, attending to vehicle rollovers and a large fire north of Fort Macleod.

M.D. of Willow Creek Fire Chief Kelly Starling said they responded to multiple semi-truck rollovers.

“In the midst of that, we got called [to] a feedlot that was on fire, it was a grass and structure fire just north of Fort Macleod,” he told LNN.

“There’s a big dollar loss with feed and buildings. We’re still assessing the dollar loss and extent of the damage but there’s extensive damage.”

Five of Willow Creek’s stations responded with approximately 60 firefighters.

Crews were on hand starting at around 5 p.m. and although the fire was considered held Tuesday night, Starling said there are still some “active stacks on fire” at the site, which crews are tackling.

“The wind gusts are causing a bit of issues, but we have it held.”

Starling said there were no injuries to anyone on the scene. He could not say yet what caused the fire.
