643 new COVID cases in Alberta including 39 in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

643 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 119,757. Of those, 9,987 cases are active while 108,258 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 39 people tested positive including 13 in the M.D. of Pincher Creek, 11 in Cardston County, and seven in Lethbridge.

Active infections rose slightly across the region but declined by a small amount in Lethbridge.

Since yesterday’s update, 12 Albertans died from COVID including five in the Edmonton Zone, three each in the Calgary and Central Zones, and one in the North Zone. To date, the virus has claimed 1,512 lives.

Provincially, 691 patients are currently hospitalized and 115 have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 13,019 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,079,284 tests completed on 1,729,902 different people.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 50,088 cases, 3,511 active
    • 325 in hospital, 42 in ICU
    • 788 deaths (five new)
  • Calgary Zone – 45,835 cases, 3,839 active
    • 213 in hospital, 50 in ICU
    • 484 deaths (three new)
  • North Zone – 9,601 cases, 1,366 active
    • 72 in hospital, eight in ICU
    • 92 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 8,449 cases, 849 active
    • 52 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 80 deaths (three new)
  • South Zone – 5,655 cases, 411 active
    • 29 in hospital, five in ICU
    • 68 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Brooks – 1,363 cases (two new), six active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge – 1,614 cases (seven new), 125 active, 11 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 584 cases (one new), 40 active, two deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 545 cases (four new), 59 active, eight deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 487 cases (two new), 26 active, one death
  • Medicine Hat – 522 cases, 33 active, 12 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 499 cases (four new), 31 active, seven deaths
  • Cardston County – 428 cases (11 new), 114 active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 328 cases, 10 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 157 cases (one new), nine active, two deaths
  • County of Newell – 155 cases (two new), 10 active, two deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 165 cases (13 new), 42 active, three deaths
  • Cypress County – 144 cases, one active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 117 cases, one active, two deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 90 cases (two new), 18 active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 18 cases, six active, zero deaths
