Applications now open for Lethbridge’s COVID-19 Housing Supplement Program

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Some residents of Lethbridge are now able to apply for funding to weather the economic storm of COVID-19.

The City of Lethbridge has been working with the Lethbridge Housing Authority to create the new COVID-19 Housing Supplement Program (HSP).

“We can see the significant impact COVID-19 is having on many Lethbridge residents,” says City Councillor Rob Miyashiro. “Making sure people have the financial support they need to stay in their homes is critical in keep families safe and healthy in this ongoing pandemic.”

Back in December, the city approved allocated $500,000 to the fund.

Eligibility requirements for the HSP are as follows:

  • Open to both homeowners and renters
  • Resident for Lethbridge for at least six months
  • Gross household income must be at or lower than the Core Need Income Threshold:
    • One bedroom – $30,000
    • Two bedroom – $38,500
    • Three bedroom – $43,000
    • Four bedroom – $51,500
    • Five bedroom – $60,000
  • Must show validation of loss of income due to COVID-19
  • Must not duplicate other government supports such as Assisted Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Rent Geared to Income Housing (RGI), or other rent subsidy programs.
