Four charged in storage locker break-ins and rural property thefts

LETHBRIDGE, AB. —The LPS have laid charges against four Lethbridge individuals, in relation to 50 offences relating to break-ins to 14 storage lockers at two north Lethbridge facilities. Officers also seized property that had been stolen from rural communities around Lethbridge.

On January 19 and 20, the Priority Crimes Unit investigated the break-ins, with the assistance of Patrol Operations officers, the Criminal Investigation Division, Community Peace Officers and the Coaldale RCMP. Search warrants were executed at a Lethbridge home in the 1000-block of 17 Street South, another on Eagle Road North, and a rural business east of Lethbridge.

The initial value of seized property, which includes two firearms and a small amount of drugs, is between $15,000 and $20,000.

Those charged are:

Nikki Gajda, age 31, is charged with 15 offences including break and enter and possessing break and enter tools.

41-year-old Lisa Plato, faces 17 offences including break and enter, possessing stolen property, controlled substances and theft for possessing identity documents.

Michael McDougall, age 34, faces possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a release order. He and the other two people charged were released to appear in court on April 20.

As well, a warrant has been issued for 31-year old Matthew Gajda, who is charged with 15 offences including break and enter and possessing break and enter tools. His whereabouts are unknown, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
