$135,000 worth of drugs seized by LPS

LETHBRIDGE, AB– Lethbridge Police have charged two people with multiple drug-related offenses and seized more than $135,000 worth of drugs after a search warrant was executed Thursday, February 4, 2021.

Police began their surveillance operation into possible drug trafficking at a home in the 3300-block of 5 ‘A’ Avenue South back in January.

The house was out on their radar after a report came out from the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Unit.

After searching the property, LPS seized:

  • 9257.9 grams dried marijuana
  • 45.7 grams hash; 94 psilocybin chocolates
  • THC edibles ($20,000 worth in professional packaging)
  • 378 grams THC shatter
  • 275 tablets of LSD
  • 1 gram of DMT (Dimethyltryptamine)
  • $3,410 in cash
  • 2009 Cadillac SRX as proceeds of crime

Sandy Smith, 48, and Terry Smith, 46, both of Lethbridge, have each been charged with:

  • two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis; three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance
  • possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Both were released from custody to appear in court March 26, 2021.
