STANDOFF, AB – The Blood Tribe is a step ahead of much of the province when it comes to providing COVID-19 vaccines.

They were successful in securing 1,000 doses of Moderna’s vaccine for their most vulnerable population.

The First Nation has begun administering doses to members aged 65 years or older at the Multi-Purpose Building in Standoff.

Conducted by the Blood Tribe Department of Health, vaccinations will be done between February 9 to 11 and February 16 to 18 by appointment only.

Appointments can be made by calling 403-737-3933. Those needing transportation can call Blood Tribe Family and Community Support Services at 403-737-2888.

Residents and staff members of the Kainai Continuing Care Centre received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines last month.
