Alberta’s cold snap continues with 11 more records set Wednesday

BOW ISLAND, AB – Since the recent cold snap began, 64 daily low-temperature records have been set across the province.

Environment Canada says 11 of those occurred on Wednesday, February 10, six of which were in Southern Alberta.

“An arctic ridge of high pressure continues to bring record-breaking low temperatures to Alberta,” reads a statement from Environment Canada.

These include:

  • Bow Island Area
    • New record of -34.2
    • Old record of -30.9 set in 2018
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1961
  • Cardston Area
    • Tied record of -35.6 set in 1939
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1918
  • Claresholm Area
    • New record of -33.8
    • Old record of -33.1 set in 2019
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1951
  • Milk River Area
    • New record of -36.0
    • Old record of -29.5 set in 2018
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1994
  • Pincher Creek Area
    • New record of -34.2
    • Old record of -33.6 set in 2019
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1893
  • Taber Area
    • New record of -33.8
    • Old record of -33.7 set in 2018
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1947

The noted temperatures do not include the wind chill.
