Two CP Rail derailments under investigation

BOW ISLAND, AB – No injuries were reported in two train derailments on Sunday.

CP Rail said that on February 21, at around 4:30 a.m., an “incident” occurred at the Alyth railyard in Calgary. This resulted in two locomotives and two rail cars derailing.

Later in the morning, at approximately 11 a.m., a freight train carrying grain derailed, with 14 cars going off track east of Bow Island.

CP Rail immediately responded with crews and necessary equipment and confirmed to LNN that there were no injuries to employees in either incident.

Both incidents are under investigation.
