LETHBRIDGE, AB– Non-profit organizations around Lethbridge will be receiving grant funding from the Alberta Government.

As part of the government’s initiative to help non-profit’s with funding related to addictions, mental health, and recovery, $921,219 in grant funding was provided.

The most substantial of the grants were given to the Lethbridge Boys and Girls Club, with a grant of $250,000.

$224,503 was received by Alpha House that will help them tailor programs to meet the needs of individuals suffering from substance abuse.

Volunteer Lethbridge was given two rounds of funding with $110,400 coming in one, and $77,170 in the other.

“These grants totaling more than $185,000 from Alberta’s government will support the Volunteer Lethbridge Association’s plan to provide wellness checks to isolated members of our community by pairing them with volunteers,” says Lethbridge-East MLA, Nathan Neudorf.

Alberta Sport was given $100,000, Streets Alive received $100,000, and the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre got $57,946.

Finishing off the seven recipients was New Hope Christian Centre Lethbridge, which will receive $1,200.

The province said they will continue supporting evidence-based funding programs, and ensuring that resources are there for those struggling with addiction issues.

By providing for the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of struggling members of the community, Neudorf and the government say these programs need to be funded.
