As a result, the Medical Officer of Health has started an investigation.

The process to identify close contacts is underway. However, the school division said the risk to the general population in the school of becoming infected because of these cases is low.

Close contacts of the cases will be notified via email and required to quarantine for at least 14 days. If a parent or guardian is not contacted, then their child is not considered a close contact and can attend school as usual, following all public health guidelines.

The schedule at Wilson Middle School is proceeding as normal today, March 9.

The division could not report if the new cases involved staff members and/or students.

The school’s custodial workers have been instructed to conduct enhanced cleaning, which will focus on areas where the infected individuals were, along with high-touch areas and surfaces in the building.
