LPS investigation results in seizure of more than a kilo of meth

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Two people have been arrested and charges are pending against a third, in relation to a short-term drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine.

On Tuesday (Mar 9), members of the Crime Suppression Team (CST) and Priority Crimes Unit arrested a Lethbridge man after a vehicle stop in Nanton.

When officers searched his vehicle, they found more than a kilogram of meth, valued at about $60,0000, a small amount of cocaine and $110 in cash. As well, a pair of BB guns, which the man was prohibited from owning, were seized from his home in Lethbridge after his arrest.

Two other Lethbridge homes were also searched, resulting in drug-related charges against a mother with two children in the home.

Douglas Roger Parsons, aged 57, faces five charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking; possession of a controlled substance; possession of stolen property under $5,000; and two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

Parsons remains in custody awaiting a court appearance on March 12, 2021.

A 26-year-old Lethbridge woman, whose name can`t be released to protect the identity of her children, was charged with: two counts of possession of a controlled substance; and one count under the Drug Endangered Children Act.

She was released from custody to appear in court May 14, 2021.

The search of a third home is expected to result in charges against another person.
