Six heat records broken this weekend in Southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – In what was the nicest weekend for weather the region has seen since the fall, Environment Canada says it was also the warmest for several communities.

They are reporting warm daytime temperatures that resulted in several broken daily high records.

For Saturday, March 13, this includes:

  • Bow Valley (Provincial Park) Area (Bow Valley)
    • New record of 15.7
    • Old record of 15.2 set in 2015
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1928
  • Crowsnest Area (Crowsnest)
    • New record of 16.1
    • Old record of 15.5 set in 1992
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1965
  • Waterton Park Area (Waterton Park Gate)
    • Tied record of 15.4 set in 2015
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1976

Additionally, records for Sunday, March 14 were set:

  • Bow Valley (Provincial Park) Area (Bow Valley)
    • Preliminary new record of 15.9
    • Old record of 15.5 set in 1996
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1928
  • High River Area (Azure)
    • Preliminary new record of 18.5
    • Old record of 16.0 set in 1992
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1913
  • Lethbridge Area (Lethbridge CDA)
    • Preliminary new record of 20.1
    • Old record of 19.3 set in 2015
    • Records in this area have been kept since 1902

In the seven-day forecast in Lethbridge, daily highs are expected to be anywhere between nine and 17 degrees each day with the warmest day coming on Thursday.
