59 new COVID cases in Lethbridge Friday, 717 provincially

EDMONTON, AB– Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Friday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

717 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 145,028. Of those, 7,077 cases are active while 135,972.

In the South Zone, 84 people tested positive including 59 in Lethbridge.

Since yesterday’s update, three Albertans died from COVID including one each in the Edmonton, North, and Calgary Zones. 1,979 Albertans have lost their lives as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 284 patients are currently hospitalized including 59 who have been admitted to intensive care.

532,171 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of March 25.

Appointments for COVID-19 vaccines can be booked using the online tool or by phoning Health Link at 811.

With another 13,308 tests completed over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,652,640 tests conducted on 1,889,824 different people.

325 new variant cases were detected over the past 24 hours bringing the total to date up to 2,626.

Below is a breakdown of cases per regional health zone:

  • Edmonton Zone – 56,304 cases, 1,552 active
    • 84 in hospital, 18 in ICU
    • 1,005 deaths (one new)
  • Calgary Zone – 55,916 cases, 3,246 active
    • 100 in hospital, 22 in ICU
    • 602 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 13,565 cases, 798 active
    • 26 in hospital, five in ICU
    • 145 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 11,289 cases, 654 active
    • 35 in hospital, five in ICU
    • 122 deaths
  • South Zone – 7,813 cases, 799 active
    • 39 in hospital, nine in ICU
    • 105 deaths

  • Lethbridge – 3,010 cases (59 new), 511 active, 30 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,065 cases (23 new), 212 active, six deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 979 cases (21 new), 164 active, three deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 966 cases (15 new), 135 active, 21 deaths
  • Brooks – 1,368 cases, four active, 14 deaths
  • Cardston County – 760 cases (seven new), 77 active, 13 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 655 cases (six new), 96 active, eight deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 574 cases (one new), 10 active, 17 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 368 cases (two new), 26 active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 244 cases, 25 active, five deaths
  • County of Warner – 178 cases, nine active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 164 cases (two new), four active, two deaths
  • Cypress County – 148 cases (one new), two active, zero deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 125 cases (one new), six active, three deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 126 cases (five new), 21 active, four deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 28 cases, four active, zero deaths
