MEDICINE HAT, AB– The first of the Lethbridge Hurricanes and the Medicine Hat Tigers’ three-game series ended in a 3-0 win for the Tigers.

After dropping two of the three games against the Calgary Hitmen last weekend, the Canes looked to get back in the win column.

First Period:

A little over three minutes into the game, the Tigers’ Corson Hopwo sniped a short-handed goal for his first of the game.

Brett Kemp assisted.

After a handful of penalties to finish off the rest of the first frame, the Tigers lead the Canes 1-0 after the period.

Second Period:

The second period didn’t have much scoring action compared to some of the Hurricanes’ other games.

Near the halfway mark of the period Joe Arntsen and Cole Clayton both were called for two-minute minors on the same play.

Tigers lead after the second period 1-0.

Third Period:

In the final frame, there certainly was more action, just not for the Hurricanes.

Not even one minute into the period, #20 Lukas Svejkovsky scored his first of the game and the second for the Tigers.

Seven minutes later, Svejkovsky gets his second of the game in the same period to go up 3-0 for the Tigers.

The rest of the period went scoreless and the Tigers pulled out the shutout win over the Canes.

Hurricanes take on the Tigers at home Saturday night in the second game of their three-game series.
