LETHBRIDGE, AB – The next steps in the 3 Avenue South reconstruction between 4 Street and 8 Street are set to start.

This week, the City of Lethbridge says crews will be back in front of businesses in the downtown area, along 3 Avenue between 6 Street and 7 Street. They will be completing work on the tree grates and will be finishing concrete work. The city notes that this will not require a full closure, so 3 Avenue will stay open and parking will still be available.

Crews will also be finishing concrete work along 8 Street from 3 Avenue down to the Paramount parking lot. The roadway will stay open, however, the lane and accesses on the west side of the street will be closed. Businesses in the area have received additional compensation, according to the city.

Officials say this year’s main construction between 7 Street and 8 Street is tentatively set to start after the Easter long weekend. At that time, 3 Avenue will be closed off between 7 Street and 8 Street. A completion date is targeted for the Fall.

Additionally, this year, there will be an art installation on the construction fencing, which the city says will give people something to “come and take a look at” while construction on 3 Avenue is underway.
