Alberta back into four digits with 1,351 new COVID cases Wednesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Wednesday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

1,351 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 155,476. Of those, 11,464 cases are active while 142,010 people have recovered.

Approximately 43 per cent of all active COVID cases in Alberta are of the various variants.

In the South Zone, 50 people tested positive with 17 in Lethbridge and 10 in Lethbridge County.

Active infections in the city are down by 20 and regionally by 19.

Since yesterday’s update, one person from the North Zone died from COVID, meaning 2,002 people have lost their lives.

Provincially, 333 patients are currently hospitalized including 79 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 14,051 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,788,952 tests conducted on 1,930,786 different people.

755,831 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across Alberta as of the end of April 6.

  • Calgary Zone – 60,823 cases, 5,408 active
    • 132 in hospital, 36 in ICU
    • 609 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone – 58,731 cases, 2,640 active
    • 99 in hospital, 21 in ICU
    • 1,014 deaths
  • North Zone – 14,997 cases, 1,522 active
    • 35 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 150 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 12,133 cases, 934 active
    • 32 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 123 deaths
  • South Zone – 8,576 cases, 865 active
    • 35 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 106 deaths

  • Lethbridge – 3,435 cases (17 new), 499 active, 30 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,194 cases (two new), 161 active, six deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 1,172 cases (12 new), 217 active, three deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,069 cases (three new), 121 active, 21 deaths
  • Brooks – 1,370 cases (two new), three active, 14 deaths
  • Cardston County – 816 cases (one new), 52 active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 750 cases (10 new), 11 active, eight deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 621 cases (six new), 50 active, 17 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 423 cases (two new), 57 active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 249 cases (one new), six active, five deaths
  • County of Warner – 187 cases (three new), nine active, three deaths
  • County of Newell – 163 cases, one active, two deaths
