Hurricanes drop home game against Edmonton 5-3

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — The Canes captured one of the three-on-three games against the Oil Kings. The First game on Thursday saw Edmonton shut-out the home team 4-0. On Saturday in Edmonton, it was a hard fought 6-5 shoot-out win for Lethbridge, and then back at the Enmax Sunday night, the Canes succumbed to the Oil Kings 5-3.

The Oil Kings owned the first period – providing the two lone goals. Carter Souch provided his team’s first goal t 9:23 and Josh Williams added the second at 17:24.

The second period was opened with a goal from Captain Dino Kambeitz, just 40 seconds after puck drop, cutting Edmonton’s 2-0 lead in half.

It was a short-lived reprieve. Edmonton came back with goals at 1:44 and 2:15, taking the score to 4-1 to their advantage.

Mid-way through the period, Logan Barlage took an assist from Alex Cotton and Kayden Sadhra-Kang, again, cutting the score in half.

However, Edmonton’s Carson Latimer potted a fifth goal in last two minutes of the second frame – and the score was 5-2.

The final 20-minutes produced a single goal coming of the stick of Hurricane Noah Boyko, assisted by Joe Arntsen and Logan Barlage.

The win went to Edmonton on the 5-3 score, with the northern team out shooting the Canes 32-19.

The next game for the Canes has on the road to meet Edmonton again Friday (Apr. 23) night.
