LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

1,391 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 172,186. Of those, 18,424 cases are active while 151,719 people have recovered.

1,160 cases, or about 83 per cent of today’s total, were variants.

In the South Zone, 85 people tested positive.

Due to statistical inconsistencies on AHS’s part, we are unable to say how many cases are new on a community-level basis.

Since yesterday’s update, three Albertans died from COVID with one each in the Calgary, Central, and North Zones, meaning the virus has claimed the lives of 2,043.

Provincially, 460 patients are currently hospitalized including 104 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 12,588 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,967,736 tests completed on 1,983,974 different people.
