AHS: 84 new COVID cases in South Zone, one death in Lethbridge County

EDMONTON, AB– Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

1,495 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 183,301. Of those, 20,610 cases are active while 160,617 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 84 people tested positive with 37 in Lethbridge and 13 in Lethbridge County.

Active infections in the city remained flat but rose by 17 regionally.

Since yesterday’s update, seven Albertans died from COVID with two each in the Edmonton and North Zones and one each in the South, Calgary, and Central Zones. To date, 2,074 Albertans have lost their lives due to the virus.

The death in the South Zone was for a man in his 50’s from Lethbridge County.

Provincially, 616 patients are currently hospitalized including 145 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 14,848 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 4,084,180 tests completed on 2,016,531 different people.

1,419,188 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of the end of April 25.

  • Calgary Zone – 72,593 cases, 8,491 active
    • 243 in hospital, 60 in ICU
    • 630 deaths (one new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 66,435 cases, 5,850 active
    • 221 in hospital, 57 in ICU
    • 1,042 deaths (two new)
  • North Zone – 18,966 cases, 2,883 active
    • 55 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 154 deaths (two new)
  • Central Zone – 15,234 cases, 2,341 active
    • 57 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 132 deaths (one new)
  • South Zone – 9,993 cases, 983 active
    • 40 in hospital, 11 in ICU
    • 115 deaths (one new)

  • Lethbridge – 4,067 cases (37 new), 421 active, 35 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 1,460 cases (eight new), 175 active, three deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,373 cases (13 new), 139 active, eight deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,235 cases (16 new), 108 active, 24 deaths
  • Brooks – 1,404 cases (nine new), 36 active, 14 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 932 cases (13 new), 129 active, 10 deaths (one new)
  • Cardston County – 873 cases (three new), 36 active, 15 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 816 cases (seven new), 141 active, 17 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 480 cases (one new), 37 active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 267 cases, five active, five deaths
  • County of Warner – 277 cases (seven new), 59 active, three deaths
