Province temporarily suspends spring sitting of Legislature
EDMONTON, AB – Due to rising COVID-19 cases in the province, the spring sitting of the Alberta Legislature has been suspended temporarily.
The suspension will be on for at least two weeks and is planned to be last until May 17, 2021.
Earlier in the spring sitting, the provincial government amended the Standing Orders to allow the option to adjourn the Assembly in response to public safety concerns.
This suspension is to prevent further spread of COVID-19, however, it is not due to any confirmed cases amongst MLAs or staff.
