LETHBRIDGE, AB – After a strong win on the road in Medicine Hat Saturday night, the Lethbridge Hurricanes looked to earn another victory in their last home game of the shortened WHL season.

Unfortunately, home ice advantage Sunday night didn’t help the Hurricanes as they fell 6-2 in a rematch with the Tigers.

FIRST PERIOD

The first period was relatively slow to start on the goal scoring.

It took 13:25 for the first shot to go in, with Medicine Hat’s Eric Van Impe recording his fourth of the season to put the Tigers up 1-0.

Ty Nash of the Hurricanes responded shortly after, scoring his third of the year at 16:41 to tie the game up going into the second frame.

However, before the buzzer sounded, Chase Wheatcroft was issued a minor penalty for high sticking, but the Tigers were unable to take advantage of the power-play.

SECOND PERIOD

Chase Wheatcroft was called out again, issued a penalty 6:49 into the second for tripping. Following that call, the Tigers went on a big scoring run.

It started with the power-play goal from Oren Shtrom at 8:43, followed by Noah Danielson’s third goal of the season at 14:25.

This was followed minutes later by Ryan Chyzowski’s ninth of the year at the 18:15 mark. Medicine Hat would be up 5-1 going into the final period.

THIRD PERIOD

8:22 into the game’s final frame, Jett Jones put Lethbridge back on the board with his sixth goal of the season.

That would cut Medicine Hat’s lead down with the score at 5-2.

However, Jones’ goal wouldn’t be enough as Ryan Chyzowski scored his third of the game to complete a hat-trick and give Medicine Hat the 6-2 victory.

Up next for the ‘Canes is their final game of the season on Tuesday, May 4. They’ll travel to Edmonton to duke it out with the Oil Kings.

The Tigers will wrap up their year with a matchup against Edmonton in Medicine Hat on Thursday, May 6.
