His teammate Keagan Slaney was issued a minor for delay of game shortly after, at the 10:47.

The game would be tied at one goal a piece when the buzzer sounded, with Lethbridge’s Chase Wheatcroft scoring his eighth of the year at 15:11, thanks to assists from Logan McCutcheon and Mitch Prowse.

SECOND PERIOD

Lethbridge went up 2-1 at the 14:52 mark, with Ty Nash scoring his fourth of the season. Wheatcroft and Dino Kambeitz earned the assists.

Edmonton responded quickly though, with Jalen Luypen scoring at 17:32, tying the game at 2-2.

Only one penalty was issued in the second frame of the game, with Hurricane Dino Kambeitz receiving a minor for charging at 18:23.

THIRD PERIOD & OVERTIME

The third period saw no goals, which meant the game was destined for overtime.

The final frame of regulation did see three penalties called, the first coming at the 1:09 mark, with Edmonton’s Logan Dowhaniuk being issued a minor for slashing.

Keagan Slaney was then called for delay of game (the second time in this matchup) at 2:43.

Before the team’s headed to the extra period, Lethbridge’s Kambeitz was given a minor penalty for cross checking at the 6:53 mark.

Overtime did not last too long, with the winning goal coming from Josh Williams 21 seconds into the extra frame.

Williams’ game-winner was his second of the night and 17^th goal of the season, leading to the 3-2 victory for Edmonton.

Oil Kings Ethan Cap was named the first star of the game, with his teammates Scott Atkinson and Kaid Oliver named second and third stars, respectively.

The Oil Kings conclude their season on Thursday, May 6 in Medicine Hat against the Tigers. With Tuesday night’s win, Edmonton was named WHL Central Division champions.

Meanwhile, that’s a wrap on the season for the Hurricanes, as COVID-19 has led to no playoffs for the WHL this year. Lethbridge finished their season with a record of 9-12-3-0 and 21 points through 24 games.
