RCMP investigating fatal collision west of Lethbridge

COALHURST, AB – Emergency rews responded to a collision near Coalhurst Friday morning.

At approximately 9:50, Coaldale RCMP and the Coalhurst Fire Department responded.

Two eastbound semis collided on Highway 3 near Kipp Road. One of the semis, hauling lumber, caught on fire.

The driver of one of the trucks, a man from Granum, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Traffic on Highway 3 was expected to be diverted for several hours as RCMP conducted their investigation.

The public was asked to avoid the area if possible while the investigation continued.

Shortly after the collision occurred, an LNN reporter spoke to a uniformed RCMP officer on scene. The officer told us that there were no injuries, which is what we had initially reported in a social media post. We apologize for this error.
