Fire Department extinguishes downtown apartment fire Thursday afternoon

LETHBRIDGE, AB. – Fire fighters from four stations were called to a downtown apartment fire around 4:15 Thursday (May 13) afternoon. The incident location was an apartment in the Coalbanks Apartment Building on 5 Street S., between third and fourth avenue.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, along with the quick action of the resident and numerous members of Lethbridge Police Service.
While the cooking fire was contained to just one apartment unit, there was substantial damage to the apartment and smoke damage to some of the adjacent rooms.
A damage estimate was not immediately available and there were no injuries to residents or any members of protective services.
