LPS releases video of suspect in “suspicious fires”

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have released a video of a person of interest in connection with three suspicious fires Sunday, May 30, 2021.

The first fire was reported just after 4 am in an alley in the 600-block of 5 Street South.

There were also two other smaller fires, in the 1500-block of 14 Avenue South and 1700-block of 12 Avenue South that morning, all were deemed to be suspicious in nature.

21 firefighters responded to a south Lethbridge garage fire early Sunday morning.

At around 4:07 a.m., crews responded to the scene in the 600 block of 5 Street South. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

Three vehicles and a trailer were damaged as a result. Fortunately, though, no injuries were reported and adjacent homeowners were safely evacuated.

The fire caused approximately $50,000 worth of damage upon the initial estimate. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
