Just seven COVID cases in South Zone as provincial vaccines surpass 3M

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Saturday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the last 24 hours.

293 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 228,961. Of those, 5,071 cases are active while 221,644 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, seven people tested positive. No communities in the region had more than three new infections.

Active infections in Lethbridge are now under 100, falling to 84, while also decreasing by 43 across the South Zone.

Since yesterday’s update, three Albertans died from COVID with two in the Edmonton Zone and one in the North Zone. To date, 2,246 people have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 373 patients are currently hospitalized including 105 who have been admitted to intensive care.

3,013,555 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of the end of June 4.

With another 6,843 tests conducted over the past day, 4,559,205 tests have been completed on 2,150,238 different people.

• Calgary Zone – 93,049 cases, 2,067 active
  • 142 in hospital, 39 in ICU
  • 680 deaths
• Edmonton Zone – 77,129 cases, 1,346 active
  • 126 in hospital, 40 in ICU
  • 1,094 deaths (two new)
• North Zone – 25,964 cases, 705 active
  • 35 in hospital, nine in ICU
  • 184 deaths (one new)
• Central Zone – 20,423 cases, 664 active
  • 42 in hospital, 11 in ICU
  • 158 deaths
• South Zone – 12,383 cases, 288 active
  • 28 in hospital, six in ICU
  • 130 deaths

• Lethbridge – 4,818 cases (one new), 84 active, 38 deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 1,765 cases, 39 active, three deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 1,606 cases, 17 active, 11 deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 1,446 cases (one new), 28 active, 24 deaths
• Brooks – 1,494 cases (one new), 18 active, 15 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 1,249 cases, 32 active, 12 deaths
• Medicine Hat – 1,237 cases (three new), 49 active, 22 deaths
• Cardston County – 1,026 cases, 10 active, 17 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 571 cases, seven active, six deaths
• County of Warner – 464 cases, 20 active, three deaths
