TABER – A 45-year-old Medicine Hat man has been charged in connection with what Taber Police are calling a serious assault last weekend.

The charges against Scott Shannon Wallace include aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Officers responded to a complaint of a serious assault with weapons in the 5500 block of 38 Avenue around 9 p.m. on Dec. 23. They arrived to find an adult female victim with severe facial injuries, and she was transported to the Taber Hospital for treatment. The suspect was then located in a nearby apartment and taken into custody.

Police noted that the suspect and victim are known to each other.

They also stated that while the victim has since been released from hospital, she continues to recover from her injuries.

Wallace will remain in custody, with his first court appearance scheduled for Jan. 9 in Taber Provincial Court.
