Lethbridge Police hosting town hall June 15

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service, along with the Lethbridge Police Commission is hosting a Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, June 15.

LPS wants members of the public to join the conversation and give input into the city’s police department.

The event will be hosted on the YouTube Live platform from 7 to 8:30 pm. Those wishing to participate can CLICK HERE.

The Virtual Town Hall meeting will open with words from Rob VanSpronsen, Chair of the Lethbridge Police Commission.

LPS Chief Shahin Mehdizadeh will share information with residents on “crime trends in the community, the actions and initiatives being taken by police to reduce crime, and the role everyone can play in helping create a safer community.”

From the town hall page, LPS says “the Town Hall session will provide opportunities for those impacted to engage with us in a collaborative way, with a question and answer session at its conclusion.”

Lethbridge Police has faced criticism as of late. In March, Alberta’s Justice Minister Kaycee Madu ordered LPS to submit an improvement plan to address concerns around its operations.

Earlier this month, Madu relayed his dissatisfaction with the plan and ordered LPS to draft a revamped plan.
