100 new COVID cases in Alberta Sunday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Sunday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the last 24 hours.

100 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 231,359. Of those, 2,127 cases are active while 226,942 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, there was one new case that came from Lethbridge.

Active infections in Lethbridge remained flat at 12 and regionally to 78.

Since yesterday’s update, one Albertan died from COVID. To date, 2,290 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 214 patients are currently hospitalized including 53 who have been admitted to intensive care.

3,775,674 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of the end of June 19. More people are now eligible to receive their second doses.

With another 4,878 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 4,640,266 tests completed on 2,171,101 different people.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

• Calgary Zone – 94,154 cases, 1,005 active
  • 107 in hospital, 28 in ICU
  • 697 deaths (one new)
• Edmonton Zone – 77,619 cases, 404 active
  • 51 in hospital, 14 in ICU
  • 1,103 deaths
• North Zone – 26,386 cases, 420 active
  • 24 in hospital, five in ICU
  • 192 deaths
• Central Zone – 20,718 cases, 218 active
  • 21 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • 165 deaths
• South Zone – 12,470 cases, 78 active
  • 11 in hospital, one in ICU
  • 133 deaths

• Lethbridge County – 1,256 cases, five active, 12 deaths
• Cardston County – 1,025 cases, one active, 18 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 571 cases, zero active, six deaths
• County of Warner – 469 cases, five active, three deaths
