LETHBRIDGE, AB – Professional wrestling is built on the connections between performers and their fans, and for the first time in nine months, that connection will be re-established.

Lethbridge-based Pure Power Wrestling (PPW) is hosting the Summer Sizzler event on Saturday, July 10.

The last time fans were allowed to be in attendance was back in October 2020.

“We’ve all been eager to get back in front of fans,” said PPW star Dewey Robson. “We’ve been putting on streaming events through 2021 which have been great, but it’s just not the same as having the energy of a live crowd.”

The card will feature six matches, mainly comprising of the Summer Sizzler Tournament.

  • Summer Sizzler Semifinal 1 – Travis “The Heat” Copeland vs. Tyler Knox
  • Grapple for the Glasses – “The Cowboy” Bryn Watts vs. Tyson Hiller
  • Summer Sizzler Semifinal 2 – “Crude Oil” Cody Mac vs. Stormbringer
  • Grudge Match – Jumpin’ Josh vs. Dewey Robson
  • PPW Heavyweight Championship – Sydney Steele (c) vs. Sweet Daddy Soul
  • Summer Sizzler Finals

The title match pits the nearly-two-year-reigning champion Sydney Steele against international sensation Sweet Daddy Soul, who has seen success in both Canada and Mexico.

“I’d be lying if I said that this wasn’t a big match for me,” said Steele. “The pressure is on. Not only will this be the first time in almost a year that fans in Lethbridge have been there to see a wrestling event, so I know they’ll be electric, but thanks to the addition of Sweet Daddy Soul this match is now going to have a lot of international eyeballs on it.”

2021 marks the 10th anniversary of PPW’s founding.

The Summer Sizzler takes place July 10 at the Pure Power Academy (2920 9 Ave North). Doors open at 1:30 pm with a 2:00 pm bell time.
