Alberta averaged just 38 new COVID cases per day last week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Monday’s report on COVID-19.

For the time being, LNN is only reporting COVID numbers once per week each Monday, so today’s article will cover statistics compiled over that time.

Over the last seven days, AHS reported an average of 38 new cases per day, bringing the total to 232,501. 624 cases are active while 229,570 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 22 people tested positive for an average of about three new infections each day.

Active infections in Lethbridge stayed relatively flat at five and fell slightly across the region to 22.

Eight Albertans died from COVID over the last week with four from the Central one, two from the North Zone, and one each from the Calgary and Edmonton Zones. To date, 2,307 Albertans have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 112 patients are currently hospitalized including 34 who have been admitted to intensive care.

74.1 per cent of Albertans aged 12 and up have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 55.3 per cent are fully immunized.

A total of 4,868,593 doses have been administered in the province.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 94,731 cases, 316 active
    • 54 in hospital, 20 in ICU
    • 703 deaths (one new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 77,819 cases, 118 active
    • 35 in hospital, 11 in ICU
    • 1,104 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 26,582 cases, 106 active
    • 13 in hospital, one in ICU
    • 197 deaths (two new)
  • Central Zone – 20,834 cases, 59 active
    • Six in hospital, one in ICU
    • 170 deaths (four new)
  • South Zone – 12,522 cases, 22 active
    • Four in hospital, one in ICU
    • 133 deaths

  • Lethbridge – 4,838 cases, five active, 39 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 1,774 cases, one active, four deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,612 cases, two active, 11 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,451 cases, two active, 24 deaths
  • Brooks – 1,503 cases, zero active, 15 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 1,269 cases, six active, 22 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,263 cases, zero active, 12 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,027 cases, zero active, 18 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 572 cases, one active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 468 cases, zero active, three deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 319 cases, zero active, six deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 335 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Cypress County – 302 cases, one active, one death
  • County of Newell – 248 cases, seven active, two deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 157 cases, zero active, three deaths
