LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Monday’s report on COVID-19.

For the time being, LNN is only reporting COVID numbers once per week each Monday, so today’s article will cover statistics compiled over that time.

Over the last seven days, AHS reported an average of 105 cases per day, bringing the total to 233,547. Of those, 1,083 cases are active while 230,142 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, a total of 72 people tested positive with 23 in Medicine Hat, 21 in Brooks, and 11 in Lethbridge.

Active cases across the region tripled from the same time last week to 85 while increasing by 10 in Lethbridge.

Last week, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said over 90 per cent of new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths were among Albertans who are not vaccinated against the virus.

The deaths in the South Zone were for residents from South Lethbridge and Cardston County. AHS is no longer providing more specific details on these local deaths.

Provincially, 83 patients are currently hospitalized including 21 who have been admitted to intensive care.

5,221,375 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of the end of July 25.
