WHL, Lethbridge Hurricanes release full 2021-2022 season schedule

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Western Hockey League has released the complete 2021-2022 Eastern Conference regular season schedule, meaning the full season schedule has been unveiled for all league teams.

In June, the WHL released the Western Conference schedule.

Each of the 12 clubs in the conference, including the Lethbridge Hurricanes, are set to play 68 regular season games, starting October 1 and ending April 3, 2022. The league’s Eastern Conference teams will play the entirety of the regular season within the Eastern Conference.

Late last month, the Hurricanes released their home game schedules, with matchups set to take place at the ENMAX Centre. Now fans can prepare for the team’s away games as well.

The ‘Canes will start their season at home on Friday, October 1 against the Calgary Hitmen, before traveling to Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome for their first road game on Sunday, October 3.

The October 1 opening night for the Eastern Conference will include six contests in total, including Lethbridge’s matchup. Fans can also look forward to the 2020-2021 East Division champion Brandon Wheat Kings playing host to the Winnipeg ICE. The 2020-2021 Central Division champion Edmonton Oil Kings welcome the Red Deer Rebels.

The WHL’s annual Christmas break is set to start on Sunday, December 19, with the first games after the holidays taking place on Monday, December 27. Lethbridge will play the Broncos in Swift Current.

Of the 408 games scheduled to be played, all but 93 will take place on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. There are an additional 14 games set for the holiday break between Monday, December 27 and Thursday, December 30.

The Eastern Conference regular season will conclude on Sunday, April 3 2022 with Calgary facing Swift Current and Edmonton against Red Deer.

For Lethbridge, the Hurricanes wrap up their regular season with a couple of games against the Medicine Hat Tigers, with the first in Lethbridge on Friday, April 1 and a final game on Saturday, April 2 in Medicine Hat.

The ‘Canes will play a total of 40 games against Central Division opponents over the regular season, and 28 against East Division teams. The club’s longest home stand will be four games from November 19 until December 3, while the longest road trip will see the team away from Lethbridge for seven games, all in the East Division, from March 2 to 12.

Lethbridge starts the 2021 ENMAX Training Camp on Wednesday, September 8 at the ENMAX Centre before starting their pre-season on Friday, September 17 against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
