582 new COVID cases confirmed in Alberta Friday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Friday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the last 24 hours.

582 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 238,939. Of those, 4,438 cases are active while 232,169.

In the South Zone, 80 people tested positive with 46 of those coming from Medicine Hat and nine in Lethbridge.

Active infections across the region continued to rise, now at 639.

Since yesterday’s update, one person from Medicine Hat died as a result of the virus, meaning 2,332 people in Alberta have lost their lives.

Provincially, 152 patients are currently hospitalized including 37 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Note: The Alberta Government initially planned to lift the remainder of COVID-19 restrictions, including testing and isolation requirements, on Monday, August 16, it has now been extended for another six weeks.

  • Calgary Zone – 97,664 cases, 1,790 active
    • 55 in hospital, 14 in ICU
    • 708 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone – 79,241 cases, 1,063 active
    • 50 in hospital, 14 in ICU
    • 1,110 deaths
  • North Zone – 27,374 cases, 639 active
    • 11 in hospital, two in ICU
    • 204 deaths
  • Central Zone – 21,308 cases, 313 active
    • 15 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 171 deaths
  • South Zone – 13,334 cases, 639 active
    • 21 in hospital, three in ICU
    • 139 deaths (one new)

  • Lethbridge – 4,960 cases (nine new), 89 active, 40 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 1,823 cases (four new), 29 active, four deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,647 cases (three new), 29 active, 11 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,489 cases (two new), 31 active, 25 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 1,732 cases (46 new), 401 active, 23 deaths (one new)
  • Brooks – 1,544 cases (two new), eight active, 15 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,281 cases (two new), 11 active, 14 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,044 cases (three new), 10 active, 19 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 581 cases (one new), six active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 474 cases (three new), five active, three deaths
  • Cypress County – 383 cases (seven new), 68 active, one death
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 354 cases (three new), 13 active, five deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 323 cases, five active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 258 cases (one new), eight active, three deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 161 cases (two new), three active, three deaths
