LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Galt Museum celebrated International Youth Day Thursday with a mural unveiling.

Collaboratively designed by a trio of youths, the “mural seeks to demonstrate the rich connections between youth activism, artistry and environmentalism… [and] highlights our Lethbridge landscape,” says Sydney Whiting, Director of Youth and Local Action for the Climate Hub of Southern Alberta.

The Galt’s Executive Director and CEO Darrin Martens hopes this mural can show the local youth talent in Lethbridge.

“Finding new ways to inform our community of climate change, while showcasing new voices, new viewpoints and offering practical solutions to help us create a better, more sustained planet reflects our commitments here at the Galt Museum & Archives to engaging with the issues of today and providing a diversity of perspectives and voices.”

The mural sits next to the patio and shows off some of the Climate Hub’s ideas.

“Funding for this initiative was made possible through the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation, TakingITGlobal #RisingYouth Grants, and the Government of Canada.”
