EDMONTON, AB – For the first time since 2015, the Lethbridge Bulls are champions.

The Bulls claimed the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) title with a dominant victory over the Edmonton Prospects Saturday night. The final score in Sherwood Park was 16-5, with Lethbridge winning the championship series with a clean 2-0 sweep.

The Bulls entered the post-season in third place, with a regular season record of 19-21. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Prospects finished the year with a record of 19-22, placing them fourth in the standings. Lethbridge secured its spot in the championship round following a strong run in the semi-finals, where they defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls two games to none.

The Prospects, meanwhile, defeated the top-ranked Okotoks Dawgs Black to set up their best-of-three final against the Bulls.

Following the championship win, Bulls pitcher Bryce Oriold-Fraser was named the WCBL playoffs Most Valuable Player, coming in on relief to help Lethbridge close out Saturday’s final.
