LETHBRIDGE, AB – A prominent administrator in Fort Macleod is leaving town hall.

Sue Keenan has put in her resignation as the municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer. Her last day will be Friday, September 3.

“This was not an easy decision for me as I have really enjoyed my tenure here in Fort Macleod. I believe this Council and Administration have accomplished a great deal together over the past 6 years – and they should really take those moments to celebrate that success.”

She joined the Town of Fort Macleod in early 2016 following a municipal inspection that called out council’s “dysfunctional” leadership. It was a period of rebuilding and fulfilling the requirements laid out in the report.

Keenan says she is proud to have been part of many of the town’s significant projects and accomplishments over the last six years including the new Administrative Building, 8 Street infrastructure project, film projects, and more.

“I would like to thank Council for their support in moving their strategic plan forward, and the Senior Staff for their commitment and dedication for all that we were able to accomplish. I will miss each and every one of you, wish everyone all the very best and I will be back for the Special Screening of Ghostbusters Afterlife.”

Liisa Gillingham, the current Director of Community & Protective Services, will step up as the Interim CAO.

The next town council, after the municipal election, hopes to fill the permanent position in October.
