Pedestrian in weekend collision confirmed deceased

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Saturday morning in Lethbridge has died as a result of her injuries.

Lethbridge Police Service was called to the area of 13 Street North and 5A Ave North at approximately 8:45 am on Saturday, August 28.

An 87-year-old woman was crossing the street heading eastbound at 13 Street North when she was hit by a southbound vehicle being driven by a 67-year-old man.

She was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries before being airlifted to Calgary.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time.

The collision remains under investigation. There is no word yet on whether charges will be laid against the driver.
