Alberta sees 920 new COVID cases Tuesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Alberta Health Services has released its report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

920 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to date to 252,930. Of those, 11,660 cases are active while 238,895 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 101 people tested positive.

Note: Due to discrepancies in the available AHS data between regional and local case numbers, we are not able to say how many infections are new for each community.

Since yesterday’s update, four Albertans died from COVID with one each in the South, Calgary, Central, and North Zones. To date, 2,375 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The person from the South Zone was a resident of Medicine Hat.

Provincially, 431 patients are currently hospitalized including 106 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 101,559 cases, 3,176 active
    • 122 in hospital, 33 in ICU
    • 716 deaths (one new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 83,611 cases, 3,660 active
    • 144 in hospital, 42 in ICU
    • 1,118 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 29,919 cases, 2,191 active
    • 53 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 212 deaths
  • Cental Zone – 22,946 cases, 1,385 active
    • 54 in hospital, 11 in ICU
    • 182 deaths (one new)
  • South Zone – 14,847 cases, 1,214 active
    • 58 in hospital, 14 in ICU
    • 147 deaths (one new)

Below is a breakdown of new cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Lethbridge – 5,199 cases, 199 active, 40 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 1,936 cases, 93 active, four deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,702 cases, 48 active, 11 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,556 cases, 58 active, 25 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 2,422 cases, 528 active, 29 deaths
  • Brooks – 1,623 cases, 65 active, 15 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,345 cases, 44 active, 14 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,161 cases, 105 active, 20 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 647 cases, 57 active, six deaths
  • Cypress County – 495 cases, 86 active, one death
  • County of Warner – 491 cases, 16 active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 399 cases, 37 active, five deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 341 cases, 18 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 287 cases, 27 active, three deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 173 cases, 12 active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 97 cases, six active, one death
